Peak Performance ski wear was born in the small Swedish mountain town of Åre in 1986. A group of experienced skiers in this little hamlet were one day wondering why was no one making the type of ski wear that they needed for the outdoor pursuits they were involved in. Clothing that combined excellent functionality for the mountains but with a cool and classy design that was not flashy and still not boring. All while allowing them to stay longer in the mountains and in more extreme conditions on the ski resorts they all loved.
This group took it upon themselves to find the answers to these questions and their combined talents put them in an excellent position to do so. Stefan Engström was a world-class mogul skier with several World Cup wins to his credit. Peter Blom was editor-in-chief of the country’s biggest ski magazine. Christer Mårtensson was an art director and designer. They also brought in a fourth person, former alpine skier and ski salesman Jonas Ottosson to complete their team. This group comprised all the experience and talents to create a world class ski wear brand.
Their timing could not have been more perfect, by the late 1980's people were gaining experience in the mountains and were tired of ski wear that was flashy but did not perform. Skiers were craving the real thing that comes in the form of genuine quality with just the right amount of attention paid to the fashion aspect.
The locals of Åre living in the heart of the mountains do not care for talk, you prove your worth on the slopes, on the rock, on your bike and at work.
