Transcend 98
Kästle Transcend 98
If you've ever loved the idea of a Kästle but felt like the brand's classic lineup demanded a little too much seriousness for every run, the Transcend 98 is the answer. It's the most playful ski Kästle has ever put its name on — narrow enough to feel quick and lively edge-to-edge, but built with enough Kästle DNA that it never feels flimsy or overmatched.
The magic is in how easily it lets go. Where a lot of Kästles reward a locked-in, committed stance, the Transcend 98 is happy to slarve, slash, and pivot through variable snow without a fight. Significant twin rocker front and back means it skis noticeably shorter than its actual length, so tight trees and bumped-up faces feel manageable rather than intimidating — you can bounce through irregular terrain and let the tips find their own line instead of forcing every turn.
That doesn't mean it goes soft when you want to open it up, though. Underneath the playful shape, Kästle's Twin Core construction — alternating poplar and beech stringers — pairs with a Powerzone Titanal laminate underfoot to keep things damp and composed when you push into real speed or lean into a hard carve. It won't rail a groomer with the ferocity of a dedicated carving ski, but it holds an edge with real confidence when you ask it to, then happily releases back into playful mode the moment you want to slash instead of set.
This is a ski built for skiers who want one pair that does it all without punishing them for being creative — equally at home slashing side hits, bouncing through bumps, or opening up on a bluebird powder morning.
